It's a new world.  I'm thinking that IT566 might use this Wiki rather than Moodle.  It's crazy, but I'm thinking that we might give it a shot.

Those of you who like clear directions an guidance will likely find this troublesome.

Software

Can someone burn a dvd?  See K12Linux and download the ISO there. Or from learn.

Another idea: install CentOS to make a new webit.occ.utk.edu (which is not currently webit.utk.edu).  Stuff that needs to get configured:

  • sendmail/postfix
  • mailman
  • samba?
  • users
  • ldap
  • apache
    • multiple ips
    • moodle stuff
    • webit stuff
  • backuppc
  • basic networking/TCP/IP

    Moodle Project

For the past several years people at OIT have maintained Moodle sites for TN teachers.  For the past two years I have been promised that they would upgrade Moodle and fix some broken stuff.  The version of Moodle that is running there is 1.5.2, dated 2005060220.  Cursory attempts suggest that it's impossible to upgrade directly from 1.5.2 to 1.9+.  A few places are still using this server and, since it can't send email, when they forget their admin password, they're screwed.  I have registered moodle.utk.edu and have a server answering to it.  We could see about moving those moodles, figuring out if they're in use and making a script to add more and manage them in some reasonable way.  Right now, I have little way of knowing who they belong to or whether they are in use.
